LIMS: LAB MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

ToolTrack Is Your LIMS Solution

Lab data lives in spreadsheets until it doesn't — and when it doesn't, it's usually because something went wrong. Manual sample tracking creates gaps in chain-of-custody, version-controlled spreadsheets become a reconciliation nightmare, and instrument data ends up in a dozen different formats that nobody has time to normalize. ToolTrack LIMS gives scientists and engineers a structured but flexible system for managing samples, experiments, and results without the rigidity of legacy LIMS platforms built for clinical or regulatory environments. Chain Reaction Systems has deployed ToolTrack across early-stage startups, contract testing labs, and large R&D divisions — and the platform adapts to how your lab actually works, not the other way around.

Experiment Control

With ToolTrack it's simple to create one-off experimental process flows with special handling instructions, data collection requirements or document attachments & images. You can also string together any number of experimental modules in concert with discrete steps in an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. You can then start material on your experimental flow, or you can dynamically re-route your material to an experimental section based on specific conditions. You can also take any existing process flow, copy it and make quick adjustments so you're not constantly reinventing the wheel. You can even define Recipe Overrides so that minor experiments can be done on a specific group of material without creating any new routing! It's all about control with flexibility.

Powerful & Intuitive Reporting

ToolTrack has a powerful reporting engine built directly into the standard UI — no third-party BI tool required. Create charts, pivot tables, summary statistics, and trend plots in a few clicks. Apply robust filters and conditional formatting, then save reports for personal use or share them with the team. When you need deeper statistical analysis, export cleanly formatted data to your preferred tool. Whether you need a quick sample status overview or a longitudinal study of method variability, ToolTrack surfaces the data without a separate data warehouse or a request to IT.

Why Chain Reaction Systems?

Most LIMS vendors target clinical or pharmaceutical labs with compliance requirements that add cost and complexity most R&D and testing labs don't need. Chain Reaction Systems takes a different approach: ToolTrack LIMS is priced and scoped for labs that need serious data management capabilities without the six-figure implementation projects. Unlimited user licensing means your entire lab team has access — not just the three users that fit in your license tier. Configuration changes are made through the UI, not code, so you can adapt sample workflows, data collection fields, and reporting as your methods evolve. And because ToolTrack is built on the same platform as our MES, labs that also have production operations can connect the two without a separate integration project.

How Does Chain Reaction Systems Do This?

ToolTrack's metadata-driven architecture means your lab team configures sample types, test methods, data collection fields, and routing workflows through the UI — without filing a request with IT or waiting on a development cycle. When a method changes or a new sample type gets added, the update is live immediately across all users.

The platform runs as a web application, so it works on any device in the lab — benchtop browser, tablet, mobile — without client software to install or maintain. If your organization also runs ToolTrack MES for production operations, the two connect natively; sample data from the lab and production data from the floor share the same platform without a separate integration project. And because we don't charge per seat, your entire lab team has access at the same flat price — no negotiating license tiers as headcount grows.

ToolTrack Benefits

  • Sample status visible to the whole team in real time — no more chasing down who has what, or whether a batch is ready to move.
  • COA generation from captured data, not manual entry — results go straight from the instrument or the operator into the record.
  • Method changes go live immediately — update a workflow, data collection form, or specification in the UI and it's in effect for the next sample.
  • Equipment calibration and PM records built in — know which instruments are qualified, which are due, and flag results tied to out-of-cal equipment.
  • Experiment traceability without spreadsheet archaeology — every sample, every result, every deviation is in one place and searchable.
  • Connects to ToolTrack MES natively if you run both — lab data and production data in one platform, no integration project required.
